Tetracycline HCl is a bacteriostatic antibiotic of the tetracycline group. Tetracycline HCI is used for the treatment of infections caused by sensitive to the drug micro-organisms, as well as for the prevention of postoperative infectious complications in surgical patients.
Tetracycline HCl is used in the treatment of the following diseases: bronchitis, pneumonia, meningitis pleurisy, subacute septic endocarditis, bacterial and amebic dysentery, whooping cough, sore throat, scarlet fever, gonorrhea, brucellosis, typhoid fever, infectious diseases of the urinary tract, chronic cholecystitis, purulent meningitis, fatigue infections of the skin and soft tissues, and cholera.
Tetracycline HCl should be taken inside, during or immediately after eating, squeezed water. A single dose for adults is 250 mg every 6 hours; maximum daily dose is 2 grams. Children from 8 to 12 years old should take at 10-15 (up to 25 mg per 1 kg of weight per day in the reception 3-4); children older than 12 years old may use a dose for adults.
